What for? For a casual Friday at work. The interest in this outfit — all basics and pieces you’ve seen before — is in the details, which include one of the most special things I own, my Arabic name necklace from the UAE. The gold necklace is almost as old as I am – it’s my name, Jennifer, in Arabic, read right to left — and comes from the Gold Souk in Dubai. That’s the city where I was born, and my parents bought this necklace for me right before we came back to the U.S., back when I was a baby. Click here for details on Dubai and more on my personal background.

One of my favorite things about wearing jewelry is the memories of people/places/stories connected to these pieces.
Absolutely agree! And I have to admit, thinking more about where my clothing and accessories come from — and remembering those stories more often — is a great side effect of starting this blog.
