When? June 28, 2012
What for? Back to work! And summer term is going to be busy. This outfit was inspired by this one on the In Honor of Design blog. Gingham and stripes? Oh, yes. (And instead of bright yellow, I went with green on my nails and feet.)
And I love that with the red tote bag, it’s a nod to red-white-and-blue patriotism without being over-the-top about it. For me, this is a perfect summer casual look for work. The silhouette, trousers, and button-down shirt all say professional, while the cotton top, mix of patterns, and striped espadrilles provide a fun, casual edge. Win-win!
Oh, and blogger poses? I got you covered. Pulling out the The Best Foot Forward, The Laugh, The Flamingo, and the Cross your legs and contemplate your shoes poses today.
And a bonus shot of my new wedges. Because they’re pretty.

I love this look! I especially love your fun sandals and the red bag!
Thanks Bethie! I love this look, too, as it incorporates some of my favorite clothing items, old and new.
Stripes and gingham are ALWAYS a win in my book. Love this outfit!
Greetings JB from JSB!
I’m still kind of a newbie when it comes to pattern-mixing, but I agree, I am loving the look of stripes and gingham together.

I love the stripes / gingham combo – and those shoes are wonderful!
Thanks so much! And those shoes are SO comfortable
I also love the ’50s-inspired dresses that you posted on Monday Mingle — so feminine and flattering.
Love the stripes and gingham! So cute! And those shoes are so, so cute!
Thanks Lindsay!
It’s funny, my biggest concern before putting on this outfit was pairing the two blues together — but the bright blue of the gingham shirt really makes the look, I think. I’ll probably recycle a version of this — an active, hiking version — for the 4th!
Love the stripes and gingham! Such a great combo!
Thanks Alicia! I will definitely be combining more stripes and gingham in the future. Hmmm… and maybe some plaid, too.
I need more plaid in my life.
OMG, love that you have names for the poses! Stopping by from Monday Mingle. Have a fabulous week!

Thanks Nicole, I love the Monday Mingle series!
But I can’t take credit for the names of the blogger poses — I’ve linked to the original sources. But I *do* have so much fun incorporating the poses… I’m slowly working my way through them. It’s fun to have fun with fashion!
So cute! Love the mixed prints!
Thanks Kristin!
Really love the mixing of the prints and the pose with your leg up is really cute.
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much, Hannah!
