Remember the inspiration board and post last week about what I’d wear on a dream European vacation (see right)? No vacation plans to Europe any time soon, but I was inspired to put together a version of my inspiration outfit to wear to work.
It’s the next best thing, right? Right?
When? July 23, 2012
What for? For a typically busy day at the library. And this oh-so-comfortable outfit was definitely up for the task. I think this is one of my favorite outfits EVER, which is the first of many such declarations, I’m sure. But for today, for right now, it’s true. And I can totally see this working for a vacation, too, as every piece (dress, tank top, shirt, belt, shoes) could layer with another piece, and the dress itself is perfect for a night out (click here for another post featuring this pink-and-white dress). These wedge sandals would also be great for travelling — a perfect height for both comfort and a little lift. ♥ The black-and-white striped tank top and grey chambray shirt round out my latest shopping trip to Old Navy. Such cute basics! I’m sure you’ll be seeing a lot more of them.
And the hair? I woke up with a center(ish) part, so I just flat-ironed the ends out a little bit. Finally, I’ve reached the stage where growing out my hair is fun!

great skirt
Xo Megan
Thanks Megan! It’s actually a dress
What a fun layered outfit! I love the idea of wearing a dress underneath other items. I’ll totally be trying that out as soon as it cools off in Chicago.
Definitely some perks to cooler weather up here in the Pacific NW! I think a shirt belted over a dress has become my de facto uniform… hmmm… an idea for a future blog post!
CUTE belt and skirt! Such a fun outfit
Thanks Rachel! This belt’s a bit big — I need to figure out how to punch some more holes in it — so I tend to loop it around to take up some of the space. Reminds me of an abstract rose
Too bad your not heading to Europe, but this look is so cute! Love the print of the dress. Thank you for joining the ‘Real Girl Style’ link up!
Thanks so much! I know, summer in Europe sounds great… one day we will visit again. (And I’ll know what to start packing!)
What a great outfit! I like it better than the inspiration outfit!!
Wow, thanks Jeanine! I’m already thinking of ways to remix this outfit, like with grey tights and flats to wear in the winter, or belted with a wide pink stretchy belt. Pink and grey is one of my favorite color combos!
Love this look! That skirt is so fun! And I’m really loving your shoes. Who needs to go to Europe when you can dress like this
Thanks Lindsay! Ha ha ha, that’s a good way to look at it! Travel by wardrobe proxy
I really need to try the whole dress as a skirt thing!
Transatlantic Blonde
Definitely! It’s such a versatile look and one way to extend your wardrobe.
I love the pattern on your skirt. Looks so cute with the stripes.
Thanks Mary! I am loving experimenting with pattern mixing
LOVING your pattern mixing, girl! you look awesome! thank you for linking up with yolomondays! hope to see you back tomorrow!
Wow, thanks Molly! I will definitely be linking up with YOLO Mondays
