When? August 1, 2012
What for? Having to work (late) on my anniversary, I wanted to go all-out pretty and feminine. And throw in a little pattern-mixing for Marionberry Style’s Trend of the Month challenge. So I mixed a striped tank top and floral skirt for a girly summer work look. My husband certainly liked it — do you?
Details?
- Floral skirt: Laura Ashley (on sale!), UAE, 2010
- Striped tank: Old Navy (summer)
- Cardigan: Target (summer)
- Flats: Payless (spring)
- Necklace: Kohls (gift card, spring shopping trip)

Tying/Knotting is so in right now but I just can’t bring myself to do it!

I just think of tying/knotting shirts as one more (casual) option. I work in a pretty casual workplace, so tying/knotting shirts is one way for me to bring a more casual edge to my outfits.
Very cute! Great pattern-mixing look!
Thanks CC!
After looking at the pics, I do like the more relaxed vibe from this outfit.
Love the skirt, the tied shirt isn’t something I’m so keen on. Overall you look good!
Thanks for stopping by from NZ — I have a good friend who lives in Auckland!
The tied shirt look definitely seems to be polarizing. I say, never say never! With the tied look, I do tend to prefer tying Oxford shirts — there’s something about the contrast between crispness of a button-down and the casualness of the tied ends that works.
I love the skirt with its black band and the little bow flats – definitely feminine. I think I’m going to experiment with knotting my shirt – I do think it makes the overall look more casual – well done!
Thanks Notchka! Why not experiment? There’s a 1st time for everything — and if you don’t like it in the end, then at least you’ll know!
i like the pop of purple against the blacks and whites. It give the outfit some fun interest!
Thanks! And I also like how pattern-mixing (in this case, the stripes and floral) can be subtle, for that interest up close.
