Oregon heat wave

When?  August 4, 2012

What for?  A short tour through the Willamette Valley, the heart of Oregon’s wine country, just south of Portland. This short day trip was to celebrate (belatedly) our 11th wedding anniversary earlier this week. Of course, we had to pick a day where temps climbed past the 100-degree mark (!!!). That’s h-o-t HOT! Despite the scorching heat, we had a fantastic day, and taste-tested quite a few spectacular wines. ♥

For what I wore, this is very similar to what I wore on Independence Day – I switched out the bottom half for shorts. The color of these graphic shorts shows up so light in photos, but up close, the deep navy background really pops. Pattern-mixing for the win! ;)

And please send me an email if you’re interested in guest blogging during my upcoming vacation. Read all about it here.

After living in the Middle East for 3 years (on the UAE coast, which is also *humid*), I’ve learned that layers can actually help combat the heat — as long as those layers are breathable fabrics like cotton or linen. Everything I’m wearing is cotton — and this chambray shirt is just about the thinnest cotton material I’ve ever seen, so it’s actually great for the heat! :)
