When? August 4, 2012
What for? A short tour through the Willamette Valley, the heart of Oregon’s wine country, just south of Portland. This short day trip was to celebrate (belatedly) our 11th wedding anniversary earlier this week. Of course, we had to pick a day where temps climbed past the 100-degree mark (!!!). That’s h-o-t HOT! Despite the scorching heat, we had a fantastic day, and taste-tested quite a few spectacular wines. ♥
For what I wore, this is very similar to what I wore on Independence Day – I switched out the bottom half for shorts. The color of these graphic shorts shows up so light in photos, but up close, the deep navy background really pops. Pattern-mixing for the win!
And please send me an email if you’re interested in guest blogging during my upcoming vacation. Read all about it here.

It’s 100 degrees and you’re wearing sleeves? Brave woman
This outfit is great, though. Love all the patterns, textures and colors.
After living in the Middle East for 3 years (on the UAE coast, which is also *humid*), I’ve learned that layers can actually help combat the heat — as long as those layers are breathable fabrics like cotton or linen. Everything I’m wearing is cotton — and this chambray shirt is just about the thinnest cotton material I’ve ever seen, so it’s actually great for the heat!
100 degrees is so hot for Oregon… We lived in Marion county for 2 years and it never hit 100. That’s crazy! Your outfit is super cute…
Thanks Jeanna for stopping by! I know, that’s really hot for Oregon — or anywhere!
We have been sporting 111 degrees here in the So. Ca. desert for the past week… Thank goodness for the AC and the pool… Have a great day.
I love you chambray top! I can’t wear mine enough this summer
I’ve always wanted to visit Oregon!

Thanks, Beth! Isn’t chambray so versatile? It took me ages to find this one, and I have definitely gotten so much use and value out of it already.

That’s a cute outfit, the layering looks lovely
Thanks so much, Alexandra! I definitely tried to layer with keeping cool as the end goal. That equaled cotton, cotton, cotton

Is it wrong that every time I revisit this post, I start humming, “It’s an Oregon heat wave, yes, an Oregon heat wave… the temperature’s rising… ” Nah, nothing odd about that!
Very cute! And congrats on your anniversary!
Thanks CC!
