This week’s fun “Inspiration Monday” style challenge from the two birds blog and boutique brought to you courtesy of Jessica Biel’s monochromatic look. And also perfect for this month’s upcoming Everybody, Everywear challenge. :)
Date? August 13, 2012
What for? Back to work! I went for a feminine work look today, mirroring the vibe of Jessica Biel’s nighttime outfit. I added a bow belt, and changed out the heels for sandals, all in shades of cream and tan to keep the look monochromatic. I also added a cardigan when I got to work.
I added a few braids today for a variation on a basic ponytail. I started out by braiding two small sections on one side of my standard side part, and one section on the other, then pulling the braids and the rest of my hair back in a low ponytail.
Details?
- Cotton skirt: Walmart, years ago
- Tank top: ???? too long ago to remember
- Sandals: Target (new)
- Bow belt: Mango, came with a dress, UAE (2010)
- Bronze hoop earrings: Kohls, a few years ago

I love your skirts!!
Thanks, Witha! I love that on your site, you state up front your devotion to pink! At one point in my life (and closet), I *literally* had all pink. Ah, good times.

So sweet, thanks!
Jen, you look really lovely and cool in this white outfit! (I also went for white!). I really wish I could do my hair like this!
Kezzie, thanks so much! Light colors are so nice in the summer — and it’s still summer here in the Pacific NW!

Thanks Daisy! I’ve had this skirt for years — and I forgot to do a close-up but the centers of the flowers are a few scattered copper sequins sewn on.
Stopping in from EBEW- I love that skirt- so pretty! I also really like the braids you added to your ponytail… I might have to borrow your idea
Definitely — it’s so easy to do! That’s one of the best things about style blogging — you get inspired by others. That happens to me ALL the time, thinking of new ways others have put together outfits or accessorized.
The inspiration look for Jessica Biel is so pretty and I love how you recreated it. So feminine and pretty. Your hair is adorable too! Thanks for linking up for Real Girl Style!
Thanks Amber, for the sweet compliments! I did feel feminine and pretty in my full floral skirt and bow belt.
I adore that bow belt – its so sweet and I’ll bet you can wear it with heaps in your wardrobe. The braids are cute too, they just add that extra interest and detail – beautiful!
Hi there, Notchka! Isn’t this bow belt the cutest? I like how it has a kind of equestrian vibe, as well, with the side buckles. It came with a cat-print dress from Mango, but I hardly ever wear it with that particular dress. Thank goodness for detachable belts!
Love the way your braided your hair for this look!
Thanks, Katie C!

This is so cute! I love the printed skirt!

Thanks so much, Mary! It’s cotton, so it does get wrinkled pretty easily. But that’s what “Wrinkle Remover” spray was invented for. Oh, yeah, and irons, too.
