Inspiration Monday: Olive, I love you

Inspiration Monday Sept. 10 — Rachel Bilson

I lightened this pic so the details of this polka-dot tank were more visible

I darkened the contrast here for a moodier feel — I like all the silhouettes and shadows in this pic!

Date?  Sept. 10, 2012

What for?  This week’s “Inspiration Monday” style challenge is super-casual, by way of Rachel Bilson, and while I could have replicated her original look pretty closely (see my olive green jacket in action here), I decided to mix it up with a new navy-and-red-polka-dotted tank (that I got for free!) and my olive green vest. Soooo happy I snapped up this versatile cargo vest — I wore it all through our Texas trip, so practical for travelling — and I can picture a lot of use throughout the fall. Also, my feet are not ready for closed-toe shoes just yet. It’s still summer up here! It’s calendar-official and everything. Plus, I’m too lazy to switch out my closet again to get ready for fall layering. It will happen soon, I’m sure. Just not yet. :)

Details?

  • Skinny jeans:  Target (spring)
  • Tank top:  Old Navy (new! and free because of coupon)
  • Cargo vest:  Old Navy (new! and free because of gift card)
  • Espadrille wedges: Banana Republic (years ago)

I would definitely check! I know this vest, and a prior Old Navy version, has been making the style blog rounds, but it’s so practical and versatile that I’m refusing to call it a trend. ;)

Gotta admit, I’m loving this Old Navy vest — I hope there are still some in stores! I grabbed the last one available at my local store. I wonder if it’s overkill that I have both an olive jacket and an olive vest. Nah, they’re both great! :)
