School colors

When?  September 11, 2012

What for?  This month’s “Everybody, Everywear” theme is back-to-school fashion. As my college’s fall term hasn’t started yet — it doesn’t start until after fall officially begins, so sensible — I decided instead to sport my college’s school colors, red and black. That’s half of the reasoning behind recently purchasing this lightweight sweater from Old Navy; the other reason is that even though red is one of my favorite colors, I don’t have that many red items of clothing. Obviously, I need more red in my life. Done and done. :)  And to make this work-appropriate, I would simply switch out the black shorts (which you can also see here) for black trousers.

Details?

  • Shorts:  LOFT (Chicago, 2007 trip)
  • Striped sweater:  Old Navy (new)
  • Espadrille wedges:  Banana Republic (ages ago)
  • Black hoop earrings:  Made in Oregon (Christmas gift from my in-laws, 2011)
  • Gingham-print hair wrap:  ModCloth (free gift with a recent purchase, a b-day gift for my hubby)
  • Red rose ring: Lioness Works (summer street fair)

Love the red stripes! Although I didn’t attend UofA, I am still a Razorback fan and red and black will always be my colors! ;) (my college colors were green and gold – not nearly as much fun as red and black!)

I know, two of my favorite things — red and stripes — in one article of clothing! My high school alma mater was blue and white (yay), undergrad was maroon and white (yay), but the master’s hood in library science is lemon yellow (nay).

Yay for red! Not sure how I ended up with so little red in my closet, but so far this summer, I’ve added a red cardigan and this red-and-white sweater. It’s actually been kind of hard to find true red lately, as maroon is an obvious choice for fall.

The best thing is, it’s a headband with a bendable wire inside — so you can use it as a scrunchie or a headband. I love options… so librarian-y of me! :)
