When? September 25, 2012
What for? This was actually my *first* choice for my first-day-of-term outfit (shhh, don’t tell my outfit from yesterday, it was a close second!). However, this cabernet-colored skirt I had ordered from LOFT didn’t arrive until the end of my first “real” day at work — but it made for a wonderful surprise! After spying this package resting outside our door upon arriving home, I literally hopped and skipped down the hallway. And the fact that I got this skirt majorly on sale makes it all the sweeter.
I ♥ ♥ ♥ this skirt, and it felt really good to receive a few compliments today, including, “You look so librarian-y!” That’s a compliment I will take any day!
I’m also participating today in Marionberry Style’s “Trend of the Month” challenge, with animal prints as this month’s theme. This coat packs a lot of animal print into its lining… such a sweet, subtle detail that helps keep me warm (inside and out).

Wow, thanks Clare, for stopping by! I love the combo of casual (t-shirt) with a bit of dressy (the scarf).
I’m so obsessed with pencil skirts right now. I want one in every color! I love yours and I love your shoes!
Thanks, Bethie, and I know, I’m totally obsessed with pencil skirts right now, too! And this one is SO comfortable, I could walk all day in it
Oooh I love a patterned lining. So fun. And the color of your skirt is great – so perfect with gray for fall.
Hi Anne!
I agree, patterned linings are the best! And dropped by your site and spied your fun animal print cardigan!
Love love LOVE this outfit! That skirt is amazing and it all goes together so well.

Wow, thanks so much Serena! I am heading on over right now… expect a follower via Bloglovin’ soon!
Cute jacket! And I love Loft. They are the best. I wish I could wear more pencil skirts with my job, but walking around campus all day isn’t the best thing for pencil skirts. I too am so happy when someone tells me I look like a librarian! If only I actually was…
Hi fellow bookworm! The great thing about these pencil skirts @ LOFT — they’re so comfortable! The fabric is this thick, stretchy cotton. If you’re going for a pencil skirt you could walk all day in, this is the one to get!
I love that skirt too! So pretty on you! And I love the lining of your jacket…very fun!
Yay, Lindsay, so great to hear from you! I love a little fun detail like this lining… like you’ve got this super-fun secret that you want to share with the world!
Of all your looks, I think this one is my favorite thus far. So professional. Love the skirt. Love the tie-neck blouse. Love the wedges. It’s absolutely perfect!
Wow! Can you tell I have a *huge* smile on my face right now?! So sweet, thanks so much!
This is definitely a style I would wear to work…clean-lined and feminine. Love it! And I adore how you are sporting the animal print in the fun lining of your coat. What a fun surprise!
Thanks so much for linking up Jen!
