When? Oct. 16, 2012
What for? I wore a more casual version inspired by Pippa Middleton’s bold black-and-blue colorblocking for a more casual, behind-the-scenes day at the library. And this series of photos also demonstrate the difference of flash and non-flash (the top photo). It was also the first time that I’ve paired ankle boots — I’ve had this pair for years — with skinny jeans. Baby steps, y’all.

I like how you kept the blue and black color combination but made it work for your day at work.
Thanks Erin! Even though I wear black-and-blue together often, it still took me a couple of days to come up with this inspiration look.
baby steps are good!! i love you in blue, and i love how polished the whole outfit looks with that great blazer!
Thanks, it’s amazing how a classic piece like a black blazer can pull a whole look together

Thanks! Today I looked at that last pic and decided it fit the whole “paparazzi” thing that I’m sure Pippa has to go through. Like my hubby is my own personal paparazzi!
The ankle boots look great with the skinnies – better late than never, right? I really like your casual translation of the inspiration and how you tied the scarf.
Thanks, Carrie! I felt a bit self-conscious at first with the ankle boots and skinnies. Also, I had to get over that self-conscious when I first wore skinny jeans! I obviously got over that quickly
