This post was inspired by the most recent “Style Imitating Art” challenge. The artistic inspiration this time comes from the Caves of Lascaux — how cool is that?!
First up, the caves:
When? September 19, 2012
What for? Hitting the ground running at work, prepping for when I officially start my new job on Friday. (Yes, I know, it may seem absurd to write that I am prepping to prep for a new job, but there are TONS of things to do in a college library before the rush of a new term! Plus, I am obviously a glutton for punishment.)
Loving the inspiration of the caves and cave drawings, I focused on the color palette of black, brown, and bronze. (Plus, Gracey @ Fashion for Giants got me thinking recently about pairing black with brown.) This linen-and-cotton shirtdress is an earthy black to my eyes — the cumulative effect of all that gold/bronze stitching? — that just looks natural with brown and tan tones. So I played that purposeful pairing up with my fave tan-and-cream stretchy belt (last seen here), bronze flats, gold earrings, and (not seen in these pics) a brown tote bag. And I added a little French touch with the gold-and-black cameo necklace. ‘Cause I’m classy like that.
Update: Check out all the other lovely ladies inspired by the Caves of Lascaux.
